Introduction: Kan-Jam, a dynamic and fast-paced disc game, brings together players in a competition of throws, deflections, and strategic redirects. In this article, we’ll explore the rules that govern this exciting game, where partners aim to reach an exact score of 21 or achieve an Instant Win.

Object of the Game: Partners engage in alternating throws and deflections, attempting to score points by redirecting the flying disc toward or into the goal. The game unfolds with both partners completing one throw each, followed by passing the disc to the opposing team. The intensity builds as teams strive to reach 21 points or secure an Instant Win, making Kan-Jam a continuous and thrilling experience.

Kan-Jam Scoring:

  1. Dinger (1 point): Deflector redirects the thrown disc to hit any side of the goal.
  2. Deuce (2 points): Thrower hits the side of the goal unassisted by their partner.
  3. Bucket (3 points): Deflector redirects the thrown disc, and it lands inside the goal.
  4. Instant Win: Game Over. Thrower lands the disc inside the goal unassisted. Opposing team does not get a “last toss” option.

*Note: The disc can enter through the slot opening on the side or through the top of the goal.

General Rules:

  1. Player Positioning: Players must stay behind the goal when throwing; no points are awarded if they cross the line.
  2. Ground Hits: No points are awarded if the throw hits the ground before striking the goal.
  3. Deflector Movement: Deflectors can move anywhere within the playing area to redirect the disc.
  4. Avoiding Illegal Moves: No points if a deflector double hits, catches, or carries the disc.
  5. Opponent Interference: Three points awarded if an opponent interferes with play or defends the goal. For scores of 19 or 20, 1 or 2 points are awarded.
  6. Scoring Threshold: A team must reach an exact score of 21 points to win. If a throw results in points that exceed 21, those points are deducted, and play continues.
  7. Equal Turns: Teams must complete an equal number of turns. Except in an Instant Win, the team with “the hammer” (last toss) always throws last.
  8. Tiebreaker Overtime: In the event of a tie, a tiebreaker overtime occurs. Each team completes one round of throws, and the team with the most points wins. Overtime rounds continue until the tie is broken.

Conclusion: Kan-Jam offers a dynamic blend of skill, strategy, and teamwork. By understanding these rules, players can engage in the spirited competition of this thrilling disc game, ensuring fair play and exciting outcomes. So, gather your teammates, step onto the Kan-Jam field, and enjoy the exhilaration of this captivating game!
